Role Title: Shift Superintendent
Role Function and Group: Supply Operations
Location: Bayway
Salary: $70K – $120K
Position Summary:
The Shift Superintendent leads the operations shift team and ensures safe, reliable, and efficient daily plant performance. This role supports a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement, and operates on a rotating 12‑hour schedule (EOWEO).
Key Outputs: What we can expect from you
- Lead and model strong safety behaviors, ensuring compliance with Life Saving Rules, housekeeping standards, and risk assessments.
- Ensure the shift meets daily production, quality, and inventory targets.
- Oversee all operating activities, including start‑ups, shutdowns, and abnormal operations.
- Serve as Incident Commander during emergency response.
- Communicate operational status during shift handovers and provide updates to leadership.
- Supervise the Components STL and Vis‑J Console Supervisor, providing coaching and performance feedback.
- Drive operational excellence through efficiency improvements and cost‑reduction initiatives.
- Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
- Collaborate with maintenance, technical, HSSE, and Phillips 66 Refinery teams.
- Ensure accurate documentation: production entry, maintenance requests, compliance checks.
A successful candidate is likely to have:
- Strong leadership capability with a proven ability to motivate, coach, and develop shift teams.
- Demonstrated experience making risk‑based operational decisions in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to evaluate and mitigate risks associated with both routine and non‑routine operational tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills, with sound judgment under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and set effective priorities for the team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate across shifts and collaborate with Maintenance, Technical, HSSE, and refinery partners.
- Proven ability to drive operational discipline and continuous improvement.
- Significant manufacturing operations or maintenance leadership experience or an Engineering degree (preferred).
