Principal Scientist – Slurry & Paste Processing
Location: Shanghai, China (preferred) or Zhangjiagang, China

Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced slurry and paste processing expert to accelerate the development and commercialization of advanced materials solutions for battery specialty chemicals, electronic materials, conductive inks, and other high-growth applications.

The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in high-solids particle dispersion systems, including slurry formulation, rheology control, milling, coating-process optimization, and manufacturing scale-up. This individual will work closely with chemists, polymer scientists, engineers, customers, and external partners to translate novel chemistry into robust manufacturing processes and commercially successful products.

Key Responsibilities
Slurry & Paste Development
- Lead the design and optimization of high-solids slurries and pastes for battery materials, conductive additives, ceramic materials, conductive inks, and related advanced material applications.
主导高固含量浆料和膏体的设计与优化,应用领域包括电池材料、导电添加剂、陶瓷材料、导电油墨及其他先进材料相关应用。
- Develop stable formulations with optimized viscosity, sedimentation resistance, dispersion quality, and processability.
开发具有稳定性的配方,并在黏度、抗沉降性、分散质量及加工性能方面实现优化。
- Establish formulation strategies balancing solids loading, rheology, application performance, and cost.
建立配方策略,在固含量、流变性能、应用表现及成本之间实现合理平衡。
Dispersion & Particle Technology
- Apply expertise in particle wetting, dispersion, deagglomeration, and stabilization.
运用在颗粒润湿、分散、解聚及稳定化方面的专业知识。
- Develop dispersant evaluation protocols and structure-performance understanding.
建立分散剂评估流程,并形成结构–性能关系的系统性理解。
- Optimize particle size distribution and slurry homogeneity through formulation and process design.

Process Development
- Design and optimize:
- High-shear mixing 高剪切混合
- Planetary mixing 行星式混合
- Bead milling 研磨介质球磨
- Three-roll milling 三辊研磨
- Continuous processing systems 连续化加工系统
- Define critical process parameters and process windows. 确定关键工艺参数及其可操作窗口。
- Troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing challenges. 解决配方开发与生产制造过程中出现的技术问题
Rheology & Characterization
- Lead rheological characterization and interpretation, including: 主导流变性能的表征与数据解析,涵盖以下关键指标:
- Viscosity 黏度
- Yield stress 屈服应力
- Shear thinning behavior 剪切变稀行为
- Thixotropy 触变性
- Thixotropic recovery 触变恢复性能
- Establish predictive relationships between slurry properties and downstream performance such as coating, printing, drying, sintering and electrode fabrication.

Scale-Up & Commercialization
- Support scale-up from laboratory through pilot and manufacturing scale.

- Partner with customers and manufacturing organizations to ensure robust technology transfer.
与客户及制造团队协作,确保技术顺利且稳健地完成转移
- Identify and mitigate process risks associated with large-scale production.

Collaboration & External Engagement
- Work closely with customers, universities, equipment suppliers, and industrial partners across China.
与中国境内的客户、高校、设备供应商及产业合作伙伴紧密协作
- Provide technical leadership during customer visits, trials, and joint development programs.
在客户拜访、试验验证及联合开发项目中提供技术领导力
- Build internal capabilities in slurry science and processing technologies.

Required Qualifications
Education
- PhD or Master's degree in:
- Chemical Engineering
- Materials Science
- Colloid Science
- Polymer Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Related discipline
Experience
- 8+ years industrial experience in slurry, paste, or dispersion technology.
8 年及以上在浆料、膏体或分散技术领域的工业化经验。
- Demonstrated track record developing and scaling high-solids formulations.

- Experience supporting commercial products or manufacturing processes.
