Position Summary:

 

DRIVELINE is a key transformation enabler for Company’s T2G strategy, and is the premium opportunity for in-FOO growth. We are broadening our coverage of lubricants required in the Driveline system, across factory fill and service fill. We will also extend to Off-highway and Industrial applications to support our customers and grow in adjacencies.

Driveline Technologists are critical to this transformation of our business:  They provide the influential technical ownership & drive in managing Company’s global multinational customer interfaces (the team supports no less than 6 “Supernovas” per CX/SVP). On the OEM side we are increasing our Technology coverage in strategic OEMs on the Light and Heavy Duty (LD/HD) sides, as well as agriculture and construction sides. Technologists understand and deliver against customer and OEM product needs through the development and application of innovative additive packages. With expanding driveline diversifications including Off-highway and Industrial applications, this position provides hugely exciting and challenging opportunities to drive Company’s transformative future. You will learn how to fortify and extend Company’s technology, product and sustainability leadership, as well as supporting existing products and extending their applications at customer accounts. The team is very well connected throughout different geographic regions - Internal and external collaboration is at the heart of how we work. This role requires significant collaboration externally with customers and OEMs, cross-functionally with Commercial & Supply, cross-regionally in Driveline Technology, and more broadly across Innovation & Technology, and the teams which support it.

Key Outputs: What we can expect from you

  • Leading formulation product development projects and technical collaborations as agreed with customers.
  • Applying innovative thinking to gain further insight and fundamental understanding in various areas focussed on Industrial Lubricant Formulations (e.g. agriculture UTTO or THF, construction and mining Hydraulic and transmission fluids). Developing customer focussed additive solutions for broader Driveline and Industrial applications
  • Leading commercially focussed formulation projects in collaboration with customers and OEMs to maximise Company’s competitive advantage, Technology Leadership and commercial success
  • Growing our global internal collaboration network for optimal effectiveness and agility
  • Building external relationships with customers and OEMs to meet their needs, enabling deployment of Company technologies to extend market position, and thereby create value
  • Proactively enabling continuous quality improvement

 

What skills will you gain from this role?

 

  • Insight into modern and next-generation Driveline hardware including e-mobility applications, through combination of one-on-one coaching, on-the-job project work and dedicated training courses
  • Experience in leading the development, testing and commercialisation of customised additive packages to meet customer requirements

A successful candidate is likely to have:

 

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality values
  • Strong knowledge of lubrication principles, additives, base oils, and rheology.
  • Proficient in laboratory techniques, formulation design, experimental protocols, and statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations pertaining to lubricants and lubrication systems.
  • Strong technical competency and delivery
  • Strong science background, preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering or Materials Sciences
  • Demonstrable experience collaborating with and influencing OEMs or customers
  • Track record of working multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities
  • Self-motivation and ability to make independent and timely decisions
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex technical data and to derive sound technical judgements and recommendations
  • Ability to communicate and present complex information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to understand needs, manage expectations, and deliver on commitments whilst building external relationships including at the customer and OEM interface
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams with a One Company mindset
  • Experience leading, directing and coaching others effectively
