Position Summary:  

We are seeking a Senior Scientist – Polymer & Battery Systems to lead the development of next-generation polymeric materials for advanced battery technologies. This role is ideal for a technically strong, hands-on innovator with a passion for materials science and a drive to build collaborative ecosystems.

You will play a pivotal role in:

- Designing and developing polymeric binders, dispersants, coatings, and electrolytes for metal-ion batteries.

- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to lab technicians and junior scientists.

- Building and managing external research collaborations with academic and industrial partners.

- Driving projects from lab-scale innovation to commercial-scale implementation.

- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team, fostering an inclusive culture of empowerment, accountability, and continuous improvement. Drive the team to deliver new products and capabilities while actively shaping future success and mentoring talent.

Key Responsibilities / What You'll Achieve

• Lead and supervise laboratory activities at Infineum’s Zhangjiagang facility, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
• Provide technical direction for internal and external experimental programs.
• Build and maintain a robust external innovation ecosystem with universities, research institutes, and commercial partners.
• Serve as the technical focal point in customer and collaborator engagements, in close coordination with the New Business Ventures team.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of Infineum’s battery materials platform.
• Champion a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

• PhD in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Strong background in polymer R&D, with a focus on energy storage applications.
• Solid understanding of battery materials and electrochemistry.
• Experience in scaling polymer synthesis from lab to pilot or commercial scale.
• Proven ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff.
• Comfortable working hands-on in the lab and supporting technicians.

Preferred:

• Experience in external collaboration management.
• Track record of patents or publications in relevant fields.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to evolving project needs.
