Position Summary
The Pipefitter is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems and related mechanical components to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations across laboratory, pilot plant, and site facilities. This role supports preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of steam, drainage, and plumbing systems, as well as small instrument piping for laboratory equipment. The Pipefitter will also assist in site projects involving design, installation, and commissioning of new or modified equipment and infrastructure.
Key Outputs: What we can expect from you
- Participate fully in the company safety program and always work in a safe manner.
- Install and maintain lab equipment, including small instrument pipefitting (Swagelok tube fittings), steel and alloy tubing runs, pumps, meters, and vacuums.
- Repair and maintain steam piping, valves, drainage, and plumbing systems.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks and repairs on mechanical and piping systems supporting site utilities.
- Support ongoing projects, including equipment selection and specification.
- Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as cost reduction and reliability programs.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
A successful candidate is likely to have:
- Proven experience in pipefitting and mechanical maintenance in industrial or laboratory environments.
- Ability to read and interpret piping diagrams and specifications.
- Knowledge of steam systems, drainage, and plumbing repairs.
- Familiarity with Swagelok fittings and alloy tubing installations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and SAP/R3.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
