Position Summary:
Join the Enterprise Data Governance team as a Data Governance Specialist – Governance Lead, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping how data is governed, owned, and trusted across the organisation. In this role, you will lead the design and adoption of the data governance framework, bringing structure, clarity, and momentum to governance practices. Working closely with peers across platform, data quality, and data administration, you will ensure governance is not just defined—but embedded into everyday business operations and decision-making. This is an opportunity to directly influence how data is managed at scale, enabling better decisions, stronger accountability, and improved business outcomes.
This role works under the direction of the Enterprise Data Governance Manager, providing practical expertise and leadership in governance execution and maturity uplift.
Key Responsibilities / What You'll Achieve
- Establish and evolve the data governance framework, including policies, standards, and operating model, ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and decision rights
- Drive adoption of data ownership and stewardship, embedding accountability across business domains and making governance part of day-to-day operations
- Lead delivery of key governance initiatives, such as data ownership rollout, policy implementation, data classification, and governance maturity roadmap
- Design and run effective governance forums, enabling structured decision-making and active business engagement
- Collaborate across governance pillars (platform, data quality, data administration) to ensure alignment between governance design, tooling, and operational processes
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders, translating governance into clear business value and driving cultural change in data management
- Measure and improve governance performance, defining KPIs, tracking adoption, and driving continuous improvement across governance maturity

Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing data governance frameworks and operating models
- Strong understanding of data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models
- Proven ability to translate governance concepts into practical implementation within business processes
- Experience working across multiple stakeholders, influencing without formal authority
- Ability to balance structure with pragmatism, delivering outcomes in complex environments
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both business and technical audiences
Preferred:
- Familiarity with data governance platforms (e.g. Collibra) and how governance is embedded in tooling
- Experience working alongside data quality, master data, or data management functions
- Exposure to regulatory, risk, or data security requirements
- Experience contributing to data literacy or organisational change initiatives
- Background in large or complex organisational environments
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Business, or a related field is desirable.
- Prior experience with SAP environments (preferably in data analysis and administration)
- Relevant certifications in data management (e.g., CDMP, DAMA) are a plus.
