Job description:
This full-time position involves project development responsibilities at the Infineum France chemical plant in Berre l’Étang. The primary role is to oversee and progress projects from feasibility studies to the detailed design phases. The role will support developing projects by giving priority to specific goals (i.e.: safety, reliability, sustainability, cost control). The position requires interfacing and collaborating with site management, operations, maintenance, safety process leader… The candidate should work effectively in both self-directed and collaborative environments, maintaining accountability for project outcomes. While based in Berre l’Étang, this role is part of the Global Engineering Team, requiring participation in Global Engineering Communities of Practice and contributing to projects across other Infineum locations.
Key outputs - what we expect:
- Deliver projects aligned with validated initial scope and project goals, with no compromise on HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment).
- Lead the project design phase by following best industry practices and standards, holding interface meetings, managing priorities, submitting technical documents for review, ensuring that projects continue to meet Infineum's needs as they progress...
- During the execution phase: support the project leader by approving final equipment purchases, engaging with suppliers, developing execution plans in collaboration with the engineering…
- Ensure correct implementation of inputs from various interfaces.
- Evaluate project viability:
- Economically, by defining the return of investment.
- Sustainably, based on existing key performance index.
- Participate in global networks to improve development processes and share process design expertise.

Desired Qualifications:
- Ideally, 2-4 years of experience on a production site as a process designer or chemical engineer/industrial chemist.
- Proficiency in French and English (verbal and written).
- Technical skills to:
- Design equipment (heat exchangers, pumps, tanks, valves, safety devices…)
- Define mass and heat balance.
- Read and rectify P&ID, PFD…
- Participate during risk analysis, e.g.: HazOp.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, strong commitment to HSSE and sustainability.
- Motivation to acquire knowledge of design practices and process safety standards.
- Self-driven and enthusiastic about project development.
- Proactive team player with a sense of ownership and leadership capabilities.
